August 2008 - Hurricane IKE

Hurricane IKE left its mark in our marina. Fortunately, we fared much better than most marinas in the area as we did not lose a single boat! We had two sailboats that experienced rigging failure and lost their sticks, and a number of boats had "dock rash" from not being tied up properly or having dock lines break. The marina is almost back after a 2.5 million dollar rebuild.

This car (a Lexus 430) was left in the marina and was later pulled out of the fairway just behind out boat. Last trade did not have a scratch!
We removed all of our canvas for the storm, and as luck would have it, the bimini tore when we were re-installing it after the storm passed! Realizing that our canvas was 9 years old, we decided to do a complete canvas replacement. After the monetary $hock passed, we're enjoying our new enclosures.

March 2008 - Spring Break "Bob Trip" & Easter at Moody

This spring break we decided to "bob around the bay" starting off at Marker 17 for the TMCA fish fry on 3/15 & 16. Due to high winds we extended our stay for an extra day before moving on to Smith Point. High winds continued so leaving Smith Point was not possible. We decided not to go to Laguna Harbor and go straight to Moody Gardens, our last planned stop for this trip.
Original activities planned were:
March 15 - Saint Patrick's Day Fish Fry Social at Marker 17
March 16 - Dinghy run up Double Bayou (Dinner - pot luck)
March 17 - Move over to Smith Point (Dinner - pot luck)
March 18 - Dinghying/Kayaking/Biking/Fishing (Lunch or Dinner in town) March 19 - Move to Laguna Harbor (Dinner - pot luck)
March 20 ???????
March 21 - Move on to Moody Gardens for the Easter Cruise
