We arrived back at the boat late afternoon of the 4th. I think all of us were ready! Three days cramped in a car was long enough. We were happy to see that the swarms of bugs were gone and very surprised that the marina was filled with a lot of boats.
The fireworks display was awesome! Even though I did not get to see most of it because I was down below with Teak we could hear it and I could see it from looking outside the ports. Josh, Kay and Al all said it was better than Fertitta's shows back home.
July 5th, we provisioned the boat utilizing the rent car before Josh had to return it on the morning of the 6th. After our Wal-Mart run and everything was put away Josh and I did some chores before walking the town and going out to eat.
Flag cleats are on and our burgees are finally flying!
July 6th, Josh returned the rent car in the morning and after he got back we took the ferry over to Mackinac Island for the afternoon. Josh and I went to the Island years ago with our son Daniel during one of our driving trips. We do not remember all the non-food shops being just t-shirts and junk. Many stores here sell ice cream, fudge and candy but so does Mackinaw City also. It was nice to get out and walk around, looking at all the old homes and the beautiful flowers.
Very crowed with bikers!
Let's not forget about all the horse poo! Josh loved the aroma!!!!! NOT! Very surprised that they do not require bags on the horses. It would make it easier and cleaner.
This is the marina for the island. We were told not to stay here because you would rock and roll constantly. People told us that they could not stay on their boats because they were rocking so bad. Every time a ferry comes in the boats start moving. It would have been nice for a day but not sure if Teak could handle it.
July 7th, 8th and 9th - waiting for a good weather window to move on.
As we were walking the town we saw this little Airstream. We have never seen one like this before and it was neat!
I guess the park was getting tired of all the geese poo so they put some fake dogs out. They worked for awhile, see below. LOL!
Tomorrow looks to be a good weather window and we finally have a slip so we will head out early in the morning for Charlevoix.
