June 20, 2018 - Drummond Island to Mackinaw City

Beautiful morning to head out!  Weather prediction was calm seas and little wind, trawler weather.

As we were nearing Mackinac Island we saw that the Coast Guard had pulled a big boat over.  Right after we passed them they were finished and came towards us.  Lights and siren went on so I went to the stern of the boat and they asked if we have been boarded this year.  I said "no, I guess we are going to get boarded?" and they said yes.  It took a few tries but they finally were able to come along side our stern and two Coasties came aboard.  They were very nice and we were prepared, especially since coming from Canada.

Ferry boat to Mackinac Island.

Our slip in Mackinaw City Marina.  Because this was a great slip (location) to leave the boat for a while we decided to take a fast trip home to take care of items before carrying on.

June 17 to 19, 2018 - Blind River to Drummond Island

June 17, 2018

Woke up to fog, not good!!!  It did not lift until late in the day, not giving us time to get to Drummond Island before Customs closes.  We will see what tomorrow brings.

In the afternoon we walked into town to check things out and get some groceries.  The marina staff told us about a restaurant named "17" so we walked back into town and had a great dinner.

June 18, 2018

Fog again, bummer!  Looking at the weather apps, there was a storm coming through but it was all supposed to move out fast and the afternoon would be nice.  We finally decided to go for it.

As we were getting closer to Drummond Island the weather started to change.  Not good!

Yup!  We got it!!!!  RAIN and the wave action picked up.

All safe and sound at Drummond Island!  As soon as we docked the sun came out and it turned into a beautiful day.

Checked in at U.S. Customs.  They are now using the App so everything is done electronically.

Drummond Island has heated winter storage and this boat was beside one of the buildings.

June 19, 2018

We decided to stay a day at Drummond Island to do laundry, take advantage of using their car for $12.00 and see what is on this island.  The information map looked like it had things to do so we headed to the office for the car.  We were then told that the $12.00 car will only take us into town, two miles.  If we go over the 2 miles it will be $100.00.  OK, we will drive to town, park and walk around.  The town was a joke but we did have a good lunch.

Late in the afternoon we had some entertainment!  The marina staff was going to put a pallet of concrete on the bow of this boat.  As they were letting it down the stern came out of the water!  Not going to work.  We were wondering if the boat was going to flip!

This is how they ended up transporting the pallet of concrete bags.

 Tomorrow on to Mackinaw City!

June, 16, 2018 Little Current to Blind River

Beautiful day to head out!

Bye, bye Little Current!

The bugs are back!

The bugs got so bad they drove us inside the boat.  If you opened your mouth you would suck one in.  They covered the whole boat!  Such a shame because it was a nice day.

The North Channel has a lot of anchorages and it would have been nice but we do not have a working dinghy that we feel safe using and we have not played around with anchoring yet.  We do not feel so bad because even if we could we would not enjoy it because of all the bugs.  They also have a problem with caterpillars.  Everyone is saying that they are going to be bad this year.  YUKE!

I am getting used to steering from the pilot house!
