July 10th - Mackinaw City to Charlevoix

We finally got a weather window and a slip.  With all the information provided to boaters traveling this area, no one ever said anything about slips being hard to get.  In July and August the marinas are booked and trying to get a slip when you have a good weather window is not easy.

Beautiful day!

It got a little rolly going around the corner into Lake Michigan, but that was expected.  It settled down after we made the turn.  Teak was happy!

Welcome to Charlevoix!

What a great town!  Our home town has pelicans all over, Charlevoix has bikes.

Thanks to our friend Elfie! She told us about the "Mushroom Houses".  After dinner we decided to take a nice walk to see some of them.

On our way we ran across this butterfly garden at the library.

Check out the smiley face in the tree!

This is not a mushroom house but I had to take a picture of the pretty yellow flowers growing between the rocks.

Tomorrow will be another great weather day so we will move on to Frankford.  Our original plan was to only do 50 miles a day but after several calls to Leland and having no luck getting a slip we decided to skip it and go further.
