Oh my gosh! Do these people know how to rest? - NOT! We started our day at 10:00 AM with a "shrimp run" for those who wanted to purchase shrimp right off the boats, then on to our day of touring. Our first stop was at the Konriko Rice Mill. What a fantastic place! We started with a video and then toured the rice mill before strolling through the store. This was very informative and we learned a lot about different rices. I would highly recommend this tour to all who are traveling through this area.
Modern bagging

Ms. Glo, our walking tour guide. What an fantastic lady!!!!
The story behind this mansion, built and owned by the famous actor Joe Jefferson was that it was built near a large salt dome and mine under the lake that was in operation. Miners were actually in the mine when Texaco, who was drilling nearby, accidently drilled into the salt dome and the entire lake, barges, drilling rig, equipment, etc. vanished. Imagine a whole lake disappearing right before your eyes! Eventually the lake filled back up and the only part left of one house was the chimney! The entire house went into the salt dome. Unbelievably, no one was killed. There is a YouTube video of Lake Peignoir emptying!!! Not a good day on the water.
Barry and Barb - check this out! They have several "Dupuy bee houses"....
That evening the people from Delcambre provided us with a grand BBQ along with gift bags with samples of some of their local products. We had bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken, sausage, boudin, twice baked potatoes and salad with a locally made dressing. They did not forget dessert! They ended our feast with a bread pudding "to die for"! It was soooooooooooo good! The people from Delcambre are just wonderful. To all cruisers out there, if you have the time, this place is a must on your stopover list.
