May 26 - 30, 2016 Pensacola

May 26 - I was way behind on our blog so I spent the morning working away on some posts.  If you don't keep up with it, it's not that easy remembering what you did.  Thank goodness for pictures!  After completing several posts we decided to head out on our bikes for awhile.  Someone at the marina told us that the original Hub Stacey's was up the road by the Fish House so Josh and I found it and had another great sandwich.

We have used our bikes so much that I have a nonstop squeak/squeal and Josh's has a nonstop click!  Everyone knows when we are coming and going!  On our last big trip in 2014 we wore our tires out and had to replace them.  This time I think our bikes are on their last leg and it may be time to start looking for new ones!  One of the best things about our cruising is that we get lots of exercise!

It was getting hot in the afternoon so we stayed inside the boat with A/C.  Wishing summer would stay away just a little longer - until we get back home!

May 27 - We decided to rent a car and drive around town, over to the beach and check out the happenings.  It's just too hot to walk or bike around.  This weekend is the LGBT Festival on Pensacola Beach and we were told that it will be packed.  Last year they had 60,000 attendees.  Yup, it was packed so we headed back away from the beach area.

May 28 - Josh returned the car first thing in the morning and then we went for a bike ride.  Josh had enough of the bike noises, it was driving him crazy, so he decided to see if he could fix them.  We took them up to a shaded area and he sprayed WD-40 on mine.  It worked for a while but the noise came back.  When he started looking at his he noticed his back tire was destroyed.  No more biking until we get a new one!  The evening ended with another great fireworks display.

May 29 - Our friend Ed Dale said he would take us to Wal-Mart so we could get a tire but first he wanted to stop by the Naval station and check out the base marina.  What a great tour we had!  Ed is a retired Navy guy and we drove right in and he showed us all around.  They have a great marina and RV park.  All service personnel and retirees are allowed to use the facilities.

May 30 - Enough is enough!  It's just too hot to do anything and the weather is so unpredictable.  Storms are starting to pop up everywhere.  We are dreading our trip home with this kind of heat. It's not going to be nice, especially if we have no breeze.  We both looked at each other and said "it's time to get home, it's not going to get better".   This is a reminder why we do not cruise this time of year!  June, July and August are just too hot for us!  Tomorrow we start our trip home!

Our stay in Pensacola has been great.  We have met a lot of very nice people and the staff at Palafox Marina is the best!  This is one of our favorite places and we'll be back!   A big THANKS to Capt. Ron and Jeff at Palafox Marina and to Ed Dale for watching our boat while we attended Daniel's graduation and taking us to Wal-Mart.  Great friendships will last forever!
