April 15. Sam and Pat rented a car to drive home to attend an unexpected funeral so we went with them to take care of our mail and other things on our list of things to be done. Short trip but accomplished alot!
While we were home taking care of business, Al, Kay, Diane and Curtis rented a car to go into New Orleans to play and to check out possible stopping spots in Lafitte. Thank goodness they did because the marina/dock on the Barataria that they found on an earlier scoping trip was unusable due to high water. The water was so high it was over the docks and we would not have been able to tie up. This saved us several hours that could have been wasted and put us in sometime after dark. Not a good thing!
April 17. During our stay in Houma we met a couple of ladies who walked the park in the evenings while we were having docktails. They were really outgoing, friendly and a blast to talk to! They provided us with town information, things we should do and said they would like to join us one evening for docktails and they would bring a crawfish pie for us to try. Since Sunday evening was going to be our last night in Houma before moving on we decided to get together then and go to their favorite restaurant on the other side of the bridge (of course after docktails and crawfish pie!). Thank goodness we had their extra cars because more boats came into the marina while we were away and we needed the extra cars to transport everyone.
When we got back to the boat, Jeff and Crystal found a big, fat snake beside their boat. It ate something very big and could not move.
Another boat wanting to come into the marina for the night but decided not to try and kept on going. This big boy (70 footer) probably did not expect all these boats to be docked here. Ray, the harbormaster, said this is the most boats that Houma has seen in this marina except during a hurricane.
Alice made this crawfish pie and it was "to die for"! No - she would not share the recipe!!!!!
Thank you Monica and Alice for a wonderful last evening in Houma! You're the best!
Dinner at Nancy's Seafood Shack. It was so good!
