April 13, 2016 Houma

What an exciting morning / day!  It was raining when we got up and as the morning progressed the rain got harder and harder.  I was looking out the big forward windows and saw white mist / smoke coming across our bow.  I could not imagine what it could be.   I looked to investigate and then I saw fire!  Our power pedestal was in flames!  I said FIRE and Josh sad where, boat what?  Fire on a boat is not good!  Our power went off and Josh scrambled to shut everything off and I called Al and Kay and told them the pedestal is on fire, turn your power off.  Josh and Al went out in the rain to investigate and it was our plug that was the one on fire, it had a big burned hole in it.  After the big heavy rain storm, Ray, the harbormaster came by and we explained what happened.  He made some calls and we had several city officials come out to check out the situation.  They said after lunch the electricians would be out.  The electricians ended up taking parts from a pedestal that is hardly ever used so we could power up for our continued stay.  Around 3 PM we had power again and M/V Cambria and M/V Last Trade were back in business.  The two city electricians were great!

Yesterday Sam and Pat Crowder explored Houma in the rain and found a little museum.  At the museum the Cajun French Music Association was performing.  They told them that they would be playing at the Jolly Inn starting at 7 PM tonight.  We all walked to dinner at 1921 Seafood (restaurant) that was across the street from the Jolly Inn and then headed over after our dinner.  We had a blast!

Mr. Al E. Gator presented us all with Honorary Cajun Certificates!
