March 27th - April 1st, 2016 Lake Charles

Still hanging out in Lake Charles waiting for a weather window to go to our next location, anchoring at the Mermentau River.

Sunday, March 27th. The people on the boats at the end of our dock had a car at the marina and told us we could use it so we headed to the grocery store for some items.  A lot of the local boaters know us from TMCA/Spring Fling and now part of the TMCA club.  They are all very outgoing, nice and friendly, willing to help out in any way.

Diane was making a pot roast for dinner and invited Josh and I over to their boat for dinner.  We brought the salad and appetizer and had a great time sitting around discussing our trip and when we anticipate what time Al and Kay would arrive back from Houston.  We new it would be sometime early that evening.  The group would be all together to carry on this adventure!

Monday, March 28th. Al and Kay still had their rent car until Tuesday afternoon so we decided to drive over to the L' Auberge du Lac seafood buffet for dinner and then a visit to the beautiful new Golden Nugget.

Tuesday, March 29th. Curtis and Diane could not keep their dinghy engine running so they took it over to BowTie to be worked on.  Come to find out is was just bad gas.  Because we were still stuffed from eating at the buffet the night before we stayed on the boat for dinner of left overs.

Wednesday, March 30th. What a day!  The weather Channel was predicting high winds and YUP! that's what we got.  We rocked n' rolled all day.  Take a look at the screenshots below:

We did get out to go to lunch in town at Tia Juanita's.  I had fish tacos and Josh had beef tacos.

Thursday, March 31st. The guy who owns the boat in the first slip (Raymond) lent Curtis one of his trucks and said we could use it until Sunday when he heads back to work.  We decided to check out a new place to have lunch and ended up at Pat's of Henderson.  We had a great lunch, excellent food!

Friday, April 1st. Diane texted us and asked if we would like to go do some laundry since we still had the truck.  Guess what?  We loaded up our dirty clothes and headed to the Laundromat.  Check out the picture below!  This is what our young son needs!  Yes, it's a washer that does 8 loads at a time.

They have dryers also!

After we got back, we walked into town and had a great lunch at Blue Dog.  Excellent food!  After lunch we started getting the boats ready for our departure tomorrow to the Mermentau River anchorage.  We filled the water tanks and put away all things that fly, roll, or move around.

Curtis told us that on Friday nights they have concerts and food vendors up at the park area.  Yup - he was right!  Several of the Lake Charles boaters come into the city marina in the evening just to attend the festivities and spend the night.  We all walked up to the park to check out the food and music/entertainment.  Josh had some of the gumbo and I had some Shrimp n' Grits and it was fantastic.  The others went to the famous taco truck to try the tacos.  They said they were really good also!  Because we raved about the gumbo, Kay had to go back to try that too!  This was a nice end to our Lake Charles stay!

Red Sky at Night, Sailors Delight!  Tomorrow is going to be a great day!!!!!
