S/V
Morning Star headed out of the Palafox marina around 5:30 AM to start their
offshore trip to Destin and we headed out around 6:00 AM to the ICW to
Destin. We will be anchoring out because
we could not find any marinas that took transients and provided power. The morning started off cold and cloudy and
when you’re on the water you feel the cold even more. On top of the cold, the autopilot went out so
we had to hand steer the whole way. Josh
was not a happy camper! We had some dolphins
escort us for a while, but it was too cold for me to watch them from the
bow. By the time we started entering the
Destin channel, the sun started breaking through and it got nice and cozy
inside our enclosure. We were anchored a
little after noon. Pensacola to Destin
in the ICW is not very picturesque, it’s rather boring but the anchorage is
nice! Josh cooked steaks on the grill
and I made potatoes and asparagus for lunch.
Around 2:00 PM S/V Morning Star arrived and anchored down from us. Josh decided to take a short nap (5:00 AM wake
up does not agree with him!), I read my book and then Josh started working on the
autopilot. Thank goodness, it’s only a
loose wire! It will be an early evening
for us because tomorrow will be a long run to Panama City. Around 10:45 PM Teak decided to wake me up by
standing on me. I knew what she wanted! I put on my robe, scooped her up and headed
to the bow of the boat. She would not
go! Back in and to bed we went. Around 11:20 PM she stood on Josh and then me
whimpering. Again I put on my robe she
jumped into my arms and to the bow we went.
She went right over and squatted!
Back inside I put Teak down to check the GPS for anchor dragging before
going back to bed. Teak refused to go
night night until she received a treat.
Treat demolished and back to bed for the night!
