My phone alarm went off at 5:30 AM and I waited for Josh to
get up and start the generator (genset).
Once the genset was started, I made the coffee and at 5:45 AM when I
took Teak out to potty again, S/V Morning Star was already on her way for
another offshore day. Teak is getting to
know the routine and is becoming better and better at being a boat dog! At 6:15 AM we were escorted out of the
anchorage by dolfins. The weather did
not seem as cold as yesterday but still chilly and cloudy with wind. Thank goodness the wind was out of the north
and we were going into the waves that were spraying over our bow otherwise we
would not have had a good day. Our boat
does not like to be “pushed” and I (along with Teak) do not like to rock and
roll! I AM A CALM WATER AND WEATHER
CRUISER!!!!! By 10:00 AM we entered what
they call the “canyon” area (my kind of cruising – real calm). Out of the open water and into a bayou type
area with high walls protecting us (see pictures below). The current was with us from the time we left
Destin and when we entered the canyon area we were doing 9.4 knots. We were flying! The canyon was the best scenery that we have
seen since leaving Pensacola, not many dolphins or much wildlife. S/V Morning Star and M/V Last Trade made good
time and arrived at St. Andrews marina at roughly the same time, around 2:00
PM. We settled in and then walked the
town. Josh and I went out to eat at
Hunt’s Oyster Bar, the other restaurant that was recommended when we did the
driving trip and decided that we liked the Capt’s Table better. The
sun did not come out at all today, I hope tomorrow is better!
